T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh - Director / Educator

In grade school, T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh directed her first original play.  In high school, she began starring in, producing and directing variety shows open to the public. Keymáh earned a B.S. in Theater at Florida A & M University and studied directing under their co-op program with Florida State University. Her self-directed solo show, Some of My Best Friends, won an NAACP Theater Award for Best Play, and she directed each of her other original stage shows, T’Keyah Live!... Mostly: A True Variety Show, Don't Get Me Started, and Sellout!?!.   Her other theater directing credits include S.I.S.T.E.R (Bronzeville Theatre), Route 66: Finding Nat King Cole (Amen Ra Theatre), The Nacerima Society (Florida A&M University), M: The Mandela Saga (Atlanta Black Theatre Festival) and Gee's Bend (Star Center Theatre). She also directed an episode of the television series, That’s So Raven – as well as all episodes of her own new media project, The Cool Crystal Show (www.Keymah.com).

T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh earned a B.S. in Theatre at Florida A&M University, where she has since received an Honorary Doctorate, is a certified teacher and actor of the Micheal Chekhov Acting Method, and has had more than four decades of professional entertainment experience. Keymáh offer's 'Tools for the Trade' lectures, workshops, and private and semi-private coaching for aspiring and working actors, presented broadly, in as little as one ninety-minute lecture, or intensely, in as many as five, 4-8 hour sessions. She has lectured, coached, and / or presented her Tools of the Trade workshops at Florida A&M University, Chicago State University, Winston-Salem State University, Philander Smith College, Lipscomb University, the National Black Theatre Festival, the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival, the DC Black Theatre Festival, the Stage Aurora Theatre Festival, Amun Ra Theatre in Nashville, TN, VA Stage Company in Norfolk, VA, Arkansas Repertory Theatre in Little Rock, AR, Capitol Hill Arts Workshop in Washington, DC, the Korea Improv Theater in Seoul, Korea, MultiMedia University in Nairobi, Kenya, and independently in Chicago and Los Angeles.
